Helping a Family at Christmas Drive 2024
During the holiday season in 2024, we learned about a family whose father had abandoned them just weeks before Christmas. A board member brought this situation to our attention and suggested that we help the mother and her three children, who were struggling to pay rent and bills and left without food or money. With nothing to provide for her children for Christmas, we wanted to help. We shared a call for donations on social media, and many people generously responded. Toys and donations were collected for the family, including a gift card for food. The mother was deeply moved and cried tears of gratitude, overwhelmed by the kindness of strangers. It was amazing and beautiful to witness this act of compassion! It truly reminds us that there are good people in this world.
Buddy Bench Dedication
Joey's maternal grandfather crafted and engraved a beautiful bench in memory of him, which bears the name "Joey's Buddy Bench" to include his late uncle Buddy. On September 9, 2023, the family and community held a beautiful and heartfelt ceremony to dedicate the bench. The bench now resides at Simmons Elementary in Horsham, PA, where Joey and his older siblings attended school. Joey was an avid reader, so we placed the bench in the reading garden at the front of the school. It was a touching and moving experience to witness the community coming together to remember and celebrate Joey's life.
